“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the people who walk through my doors.”
Dr. Gatschet is proud to have to serve the South Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta areas. Born and raised central Massachusetts, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by her Medical Doctorate at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. During her training, she most enjoyed learning about the processes of performing surgical procedures and being a part of the surgical team, and ultimately decided to pursue a residency in general surgery.
She then traveled to the central San Joaquin Valley to complete her residency in General Surgery at the University of California San Francisco in Fresno, where she was drawn most to learning about advanced laparoscopy. She therefore stayed in Fresno to complete a one-year, high-volume fellowship program with Advanced Laparoscopic Surgical Associates.
She selected bariatric surgery as a career path because of it positivity and in-depth involvement of the patient in achieving his or her goals towards health and wellness. “While the surgery is a very important part of achieving weight loss goals and resolving and improving medical problems, the pre-and post-operative education process is just as important. In many ways, we are enabling our patients with the tools to succeed.”
When she is not working, she enjoys traveling with her family and skiing. She does not like going to the gym and prefers to take ballet classes for her exercise.
“I am excited to work for a doctor who makes patient care her No. 1 goal.”
Michael Jaramillo is the office manager and go-to person when Prestige patients have questions about their individual surgery processes. Patients get to know Mike very well, as he handles patient intake, scheduling, insurance authorization and guides them from their initial consult with Dr. Gatschet to surgery preparation.
Mike enjoys working with Dr. Gatschet and seeing first-hand how bariatric surgery changes peoples’ lives.
“I’m excited to work for a doctor who makes patient care her No. 1 goal,” he said.
When not working Mike enjoys traveling, playing golf and spending time with his three children and wife, Jessica.
